This was probably one of my least favorite projects in this class, since I'm really bad at drawing 3/4 faces and side views. Overall, this was probably the hardest project for me, and I had to make five sketches. I really only invested my time into 3 of them, since I wanted themto look really good. Through the assignment, I relearned the proportions of the human face, and it was sorta fun.
2nd Slab Mug: For the second slab mug, I decided to dedicate my project to my mother, since I started it around Mother's Day. This project was very fun for me, because although I ran out of ideas on how to decorate it, I somehow managed to pull it off, and I now have a pretty cool mug that I can give to my mom. One thing I regret is that the actual decorative parts of this mug are minimal, and could've used more time developing. I would've also liked there to be more unique colors that we could glaze with, but I worked with what I had, and I think it turned out okay. Lidded Pinch Pot: For the lidded pinch pot project, I also decided to make mine based on an actual creature. Even though I'm not really sure what animal I was going for, it sort of looks like a squirrel, and I really ole how it turned out. Next time, I'll be sure to make the actual cut of where it opens to be much more smooth, and less jagged and messy. I would also like to do a better job glazing, or have at least a better color to work with, so next time I don't have to blend two colors, making it even less neat. Creature Pinch Pot: My creature pinch pot is based of the the Monsters Inc. character, Mike Wasowski, who is one of my favorite Pixar characters of all time. I was really surprised that my project actually turned out to look a lot like him, if only I had a brighter green to glaze him with, it would really look like him. Next time, I think it would be cool to find out a way of how I could add his skinny arms and legs, but I figured this time it would be fairly difficult, so I stuck with just a basic-shaped head. For the past month or two in art class, we've worked on multiple clay projects, including a pinch pot, a creature, and two mugs; one plain and one decorative. I especially liked this project because we got to go through the whole process of creating an art piece, putting it in the kiln, glazing it, and then putting it back in the kiln for a completed project. This project successfully taught me how to glaze and use clay properly, so I'm great full I finished this super fun project. *i will post a picture of my decorated cup when it's done In class for the past couple of weeks, we've been working on the slab project, and his is the finished product. I painted it with white glaze, and wanted to keep it plain and chic, and I have to say, it ended up looking pretty good for the most part. Next time we accomplish this project, I would like to paint it with different colored glazes. Throughout the past three weeks we have been working on our clay projects. The creature project, the pinch pot, and the clay mug. These projects were really fun because we got to work more with our hands, instead of colors, which aren't as malleable. If I were to do this project again, I would probably pick another animal, one that is easier to craft. I would also make my cup a little smaller, and put more detail into the handle. For the pinch pot, I believe mine was pretty good, and I'm so glad we got to do this project, as opposed to just coloring or drawing. Throughout the week in class we worked on our calligrams. This project was especially fun because we got to choose whichever shape we wanted, and a word or phrase to fit inside. I choose to do a rainbow, a piece of bacon, and a peace sign saying, "don't worry, be happy". the bacon piece was simple to do, but took a while to color because I had to be really exact when coloring it in. Also, I'm glad we had to color it, because there's made it look more like an actual piece of bacon. Now, the rainbow was especially fun to draw because I could also use different colors to color it in, and it had a more distinguishable shape. Lastly, the peace sign was entertaining to make because I got to incorporate a phrase into the calligram. Although, it was tedious because I had to mediate exactly where the letters had to be in order to complete the phrase efficiently. Next time we do this project I think it would be fun if we got to paint it, or even if we drew another picture inside the individual letters. Overall, this was a super fun project that I would definitely do again! This past week in art we worked on our absurd drawings, and it was really fun! I decided to only color the important parts of the picture to make them stand out. This picture as a whole confronts the main problems in our society; animal cruelty, capitalism, our agricultural industry, marriage and marriage equality, and malnutrition. I loved creating this project because it was fun representing modern problems within art. Overall, I would definitely do this project again! For the past few days, we've been working on painting our landscape. This project was especially fun because mixing and experimenting with all the colors took a while, but was really fun and cool. The next time we start painting, I would really want to use less water with water colors because they eventually just made the paper all crooked and weird looking. I really liked drawing the individual trees, and I'm looking forward to painting again. Yesterday in class we had based new paintings on this one. This project was really fun because we got to work with different colors to show value and perspective in our drawings. If I were to do this project again, I would definitely use acrylic paint, because I think the colors are more vibrant and allow for more versatility. Overall, this project was really cool Today in class we learned about the different primary, secondary colors. We also learned how to mix colors and use a light of brown to create a value scale. This was actually a really cool project, I would love to do this again, and learn how to make different, exciting colors! |
